Hank Plotts. His owner/father, Craig Plotts from Mishawaka, Indiana is an Iraq War veteran who tried for a very long time to own a dog. He bought a house and he finally got Hank when he was a puppy. Hank was not even a year old and just recently tragedy struck. In the St. Joseph County Area there is Breed Specific Legislation against the Pit Bull Breed or “dangerous dogs” which requires an insurance policy, a permit and for the dog to be muzzled at all times outdoors. Craig gave the dog a large fenced in backyard for his beloved Hank to play in. Just recently his neighbors has said they videotaped Hank being “Aggressive” in the backyard. They threatened to turn in the video to the Humane Society. He was given a citation because the dog was in his own fenced in backyard without a muzzle on… There was a court hearing in which Craig was not properly informed about due to the late hours he works at Memorial Hospital as a Medical Technician. The Humane Society of St. Joseph County sent Police officers to Craig and Hanks home and the officers took the dog. Hank was hiding upstairs peeking his head out around the corner and afraid. The officers took Hank in custody and to the Humane Society and held him there. Craig tried everything he could to get his dog back, even if someone else could take him. With the help of a lawyer he even tried to delay the euthanization date. Even a licensed/certified rescue shelter in Middlebury, Indiana offered to take the dog, but the Humane Society still would not let Hank free. Hank was put to sleep on 5/21/12. After this horrible ordeal which Craig and Hank had to go through, the worst was yet to come. Craig wanted Hank’s body back so he could put him to rest with a burial and finally get some closure, but the Humane Society would not give him or a funeral home the body. Everyone must please stand up and not let this happen to any dog. Please show your support for Hank and let Craig know that there are hundreds of us who stand beside him and Hank and not let this injustice pass by without the world seeing it. Hank was a great dog who was loved by many people as you can see by the pictures. Please share, like and REBLOG to show your support!
